Now, the copyright date is a bit more complicated, especially in the United States. If you’re using a self-publishing service (e.g., BookBaby, Lulu, XLibris) as your publisher, they usually want you to own the copyright. Even if you have formed a publishing company (see item 9 below), in 95% of cases, the author is still the owner. Let’s talk about the copyright owner first.
